Week 1

Your current age has a significant impact on how much technology you are exposed to. Young people are entering a highly sophisticated digital environment with little understanding of the risks that exist.

Over time an individual’s capacity to learn is reduced. As a senior it can be difficult to continually stay organized with our security, especially regarding data breaches which may contain our private data.

The value we place on our cyber security varies with the value of our assets.

Week 1 is focused on identifying our important accounts. These include our various email accounts, banking, government, work, etc.

Further, we can divide our accounts by specific categories, like family and memberships.

Objectives

  1. Identify and categorize important accounts
  2. Checking integrity and monitoring of current accounts
  3. Strong, unique passwords: It’s important to use strong, unique passwords for all of your accounts. Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts and consider using a password manager to help you create and manage strong, unique passwords.
  4. Personal information security solutions.
